Koh Samui, the island of the coconut trees, is the 3rd largest island in Thailand (only Phuket and Koh Chang are larger). The area is about 247 km² and it is located 700 km South of Bangkok in the Surat Thani province.
The beaches are Chaweng, Lamai, Bophut, Choeng Mon, Hua Thanon and Maenam.
Samui has its own airport and is a short 1 hour flight from Bangkok. However, if you would like to save a few Baht (Thai money) and have the time, you can also take a train, bus and or boat combination for about one third the cost of flying. You will stay in a simple but natural location in a Thai style setting, close to the water. |
